Community Involvement

Community service is a core value at The Charleston Group and is reflected in the activities of all our lawyers.

Our contributions cover a broad spectrum of societal and business issues. Our lawyers are active participants in the North Carolina Bar Association, the National Bar Association, the North Carolina Association of Black Lawyers and the National Hispanic Bar Association. Our service to these organizations creates invaluable relationships that add substantial strength to our practice.

We also support business and industry in our community through organizations like the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Bragg Regional Alliance, where R. Jonathan Charleston serves as counsel. As part of our business law practice, we are proud to have served as counsel for more than $2 billion in successful capital financings for affordable housing and community economic development.

In addition, The Charleston Group is committed to devoting a percentage of its billable hours to pro bono causes, from the Center for Economic Empowerment and Development to the City of Fayetteville Fair Housing Board.
